Job Description

Access provides summer internship opportunities to current juniors, who attend high schools in LA County. This program offers STEM students an opportunity to learn about technology's impacts on transportation and how to apply classroom theories and concepts to "real-world" work situations at one of the nation's largest paratransit public transportation agencies. Interns will engage in innovative projects, collaborate with industry professionals, and develop skills essential for their future careers. Interns will participate in mandatory in-person sessions, complete project tasks, and present final project presentations. They will explore careers in transportation, connect classroom theories to real-world work situations, and establish professional mentorship relationships. Duties may include, but are not limited to assisting in the: Design and implementation of graphical UI/UX; Provide analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of end user problems, recommend and implement corrective solutions, and perform necessary changes and/or updates; Install, configure, test, maintain, and monitor hardware and software; Plann, test, deploy, maintain, and improve various hardware devices, operating systems, software applications, peripherals, and/or communication devices; Prioritize and coordinate work with coworkers and with other departments to ensure timely completion of work; Collaborate with and help support other IT Team Members with workload; Commit to personal and professional growth of self and support team on growth opportunities; Manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables of assigned IT projects and changes; Communicate project and change status, progress, and issues to IT Team and other stakeholders; Build cyber security awareness and knowledge for self, team, and end users; Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning process; and Assist in addressing key organizational business/technical issues with STEM focused solutions. A combination of education, experience, and training that has provided the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities is required for entry into the classification. Experience:
Enrollment in high school located within LA County. Ages 16-18 Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally authorized to work in the United States High school courses in STEM and/or a strong interest in STEM is desired

Noise Level:
The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet or moderately quiet; at or below 85 decibels. In the course of employment, employee may visit service provider or other contractor's premises, which may include limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, or fumes or airborne particles from motor vehicles.
