Job Description
Position Overview Digital Broadcast, Inc. (DBI) develops broadcast automation and control systems used in live production environments. We are seeking a technically strong Information Systems, Computer Engineering , or Computer Science professional to join our engineering team. This is not a help desk role. It is a systems-focused engineering position working directly with DBI's proprietary software and integrated hardware platforms in real-time broadcast environments. The work spans software, networking, operating systems, and hardware control layers. Success in this role requires someone who approaches problems methodically, documents their work, and follows issues through to final resolution rather than temporary fixes. This position offers early exposure to systems architecture, infrastructure reliability, and real-world operational engineering. What You'll Work On Diagnose and resolve complex issues across multiple system layers, including: DBI broadcast automation software Windows Server environments IP networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing) Video routing and hardware control systems Perform root cause analysis for failures in production environments. Analyze logs, system traces, and event timing to identify system behavior patterns. Assist with system deployments, upgrades, and integrations. Implement reliability improvements based on operational observations. Develop and maintain structured technical documentation and configuration standards. Provide technical support to broadcast engineers and operational staff. Deliver training on DBI system architecture and operational workflows. Travel to client facilities for system installations and complex troubleshooting scenarios. Assist with after-hours client issues What We Value We are looking for engineers who: Approach technical problems methodically and analytically Focus on resolving root causes rather than applying temporary workarounds Can stay with a problem until it is fully understood and resolved Think in terms of systems, dependencies, and operational impact Communicate technical findings clearly and document their work Required Technical Foundation Candidates should have a working knowledge of: TCP/IP networking fundamentals Subnetting and VLANs Routing basics Windows Server environments Additional expectations: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to interpret system logs and behavior Clear technical documentation skills Willingness to work in-office in Gainesville, FL and travel as needed Ideal Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, though industry experience is valued. Interest in systems engineering and infrastructure reliability. Curiosity about how software interacts with networks, servers, and hardware. Comfortable working in environments where systems must remain operational. Growth Path This role is designed for individuals who want to grow into broader engineering responsibilities including: Systems architecture Broadcast systems engineering Infrastructure design and operational leadership Over time, this role may evolve into ownership of core information systems and infrastructure within the company. Compensation • Salary range: $75,000+ depending on experience What This Role Is Not This position is not a general IT support or help desk role. You will not spend your time resetting passwords, imaging laptops, or handling routine desktop support tasks. This role focuses on understanding and maintaining complex operational systems. Problems often span multiple layers including software, operating systems, networking, and hardware control infrastructure. Engineers in this role are expected to: Investigate issues methodically rather than applying quick temporary fixes Document findings and solutions clearly Follow problems through to root cause and long-term resolution Take ownership of systems and their operational stability If you enjoy diagnosing complex systems, improving reliability, and ensuring systems stay operational in real-world environments, this role will be a strong fit.
