Job Title:
Configuration Technician Job Description The Configuration Technician stages, programs, and troubleshoots software solutions to ensure that mobile devices, RFID systems, and point-of-sale (POS) hardware are fully configured and ready for deployment. This role serves as a critical link between procurement and field deployment by preparing, testing, and repairing devices, and by resolving software, network, and hardware issues before equipment reaches the customer. Responsibilities Stage, configure, and program mobile devices, RFID systems, and point-of-sale (POS) hardware so they are ready for customer deployment. Download, install, and verify software applications and updates on a variety of devices, ensuring proper configuration and functionality. Diagnose and resolve software deployment issues, including configuration errors and application conflicts. Troubleshoot network connectivity problems related to device setup and deployment. Identify and resolve hardware issues on devices returned for service, including performing bench-level repair. Use test equipment to verify device performance and confirm successful repairs and configurations. Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures to complete configuration and repair tasks accurately and consistently. Perform hardware repair activities, including basic soldering, component replacement, and reassembly as needed. Maintain accurate inventory records of devices, components, and materials used during configuration and repair. Complete clear and detailed job reports documenting work performed, issues found, and resolutions implemented. Track recurring hardware and configuration problems and communicate findings to procurement and related teams to support continuous improvement. Operate within scheduled hours and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high quality and attention to detail. Essential Skills Proven experience operating computers and mobile devices in a technical or configuration-focused environment. Familiarity with both Android and Apple iOS platforms, including basic setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. Basic knowledge of computer imaging and software deployment processes. Hands-on experience with configuration of point-of-sale (POS) equipment and related peripherals. Ability to download, install, and configure software applications on various devices. Experience performing hardware repair, including using test equipment and following technical work instructions. Basic soldering skills for component-level hardware repair. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. High attention to detail to ensure accurate configuration, documentation, and inventory tracking. Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a bench repair or electronics repair environment. Experience in diagnosing and resolving network connectivity issues related to device deployment. Comfort using test equipment and diagnostic tools to validate device functionality. Strong written documentation skills for completing job reports and communicating technical findings. Ability to collaborate with procurement and other internal teams to share hardware and configuration insights. Work Environment This role is based in a temperature-controlled facility with a bench repair technician style setting, where most work is performed at a workstation using tools, test equipment, and computers. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional additional half days as needed. The environment emphasizes structured processes, careful handling of electronic devices, and adherence to technical work instructions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
