Job Description
Job Title:
System Analyst Job Description The System Analyst will support advanced weapon system development by performing sophisticated systems and combat system analysis across multiple mission areas, including ballistic missile defense, anti-air warfare, integrated air and missile defense, surface warfare, and anti-submarine warfare. This role uses mathematical models, simulations, and applied statistics to assess design changes, evaluate system performance, and support program design reviews while collaborating closely with engineering teams in a fast-paced, Agile development environment. Responsibilities Use mathematical models and simulations to perform combat system and system-of-systems level analysis in support of weapon system development across BMD, AAW, IAMD, SUW, and ASW mission areas. Assess the impact of design changes by conducting trade studies and evaluating system-level performance in element simulations. Perform Technical Performance Measure (TPM) assessments and root cause analysis to support program design reviews and resolve performance issues. Demonstrate a strong understanding of adversary threat systems, including concepts of operations (CONOPS), kinematics, and radar return signatures, and apply this knowledge to system analysis. Demonstrate a solid understanding of the major elements within the Aegis Weapon System, including the role of each element and how changes in one element affect others. Develop and maintain an understanding of each mission area within the analysis plan to ensure accurate and relevant system assessments. Evaluate, recommend, and implement systems analysis processes to improve analytical rigor and efficiency. Run the Medusa model and demonstrate a clear understanding of how the model operates and how to interpret its outputs. Apply detailed knowledge of system requirements, including performance and functional requirements, against each threat set for each mission area. Read C++ and Java code and run code in a debugger to support troubleshooting and performance analysis. Identify the source of problems and failures, distinguishing between issues in the model, inputs, and design or requirements. Collaborate with element engineers to develop solutions to issues by creating Change Requests (CRs) and participating in peer reviews of design changes. Provide timely, focused feedback on proposed design changes to Aegis elements based on analytical findings. Review, update, and create MATLAB and Python scripts to extract, process, and plot model performance metrics. Use appropriate configuration management processes to maintain version control of analysis scripts and related artifacts. Apply appropriate statistical methods to interpret results and verify that performance requirements are met. Prepare clear, concise, and visually effective presentation slides for technical meetings and program reviews. Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and leadership. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Experience with root cause analysis and methods of applied mathematics. Proficiency with MATLAB for modeling, data analysis, and visualization. Proficiency with Python for scripting, data processing, and analysis automation. Experience using debugging tools and computer system performance analysis tools. Ability to read C++ and Java code and run code in a debugger to support analysis and troubleshooting. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, Agile development environment. Strong understanding of systems requirements, including performance and functional requirements across multiple threat sets and mission areas. Effective verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and presentations. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with the Aegis Weapon System, including its major elements and their interactions. Understanding of adversary threat systems, including differences in concepts of operations, kinematics, and radar signatures. Experience conducting trade studies to evaluate system-level impacts of design implementations. Experience running and interpreting results from complex models such as the Medusa model. Experience evaluating, recommending, and implementing systems analysis processes and best practices. Experience using configuration management tools and processes for version control of scripts and analysis products. Knowledge of statistical methods and their application to performance assessment and verification. Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations to multidisciplinary teams. Background in business systems analysis in a technical or defense-related context. Experience working within Agile methodologies and tools to support iterative development and analysis. Work Environment Work will be performed on-site at a secure defense-oriented facility in Moorestown, NJ. The environment supports advanced systems engineering and analysis activities and involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and program teams.
