Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT's mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet.
Description of Work Salary Range:

We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst I This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency's remote work program but does require weekly onsite work This is a REPOST. The Early Career Associate Program is ideal for recent graduates, early-career professionals, or those looking to transition to a new career seeking broad exposure to state IT operations. The Early Career Associate Program is a two-year on-the-job training (OJT) program designed for individuals with three years or less of professional experience. After gaining exposure to the role through the development process, participants will have the opportunity to be placed in a permanent role based on mutual fit and career goals. As a member of the Software Quality Assurance team, the Analyst I helps ensure that NC Department of Transportation systems are reliable, secure, and accessible to NC citizens across the state.   • Proactively execute manual and automated test cases to validate system functionality, performance, security, and usability of state systems
  • Document test results, defects, and observations using approved tracking and reporting systems
  • Collaborate with SQA analysts and project teams to resolve defects and improve system quality
  • Participate in system, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing activities in accordance with state policies and standards
  • Maintain accurate and compliant testing documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports
  • Learn and apply state IT policies, security guidelines, accessibility standards, and quality assurance methodologies
  • Provide timely and proactive status updates and communicate testing progress, risks, and recommendations to supervisors, and stakeholders About the
Division:
The Enterprise Test Team Unit conducts a disciplined approach to software testing, using software testing industry best practices, concepts and technology, that results in reduction of the NCDIT-Transportation software development cost. The Unit implements and executes the test management system and processes for test planning, manual and automated test development, test execution and defect tracking within NCDIT-Transportation. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
  • Basic understanding of Software Quality Assurance (SQA), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Test Automation Concepts and Best Practices
  • Ability to adapt to and champion emerging SQA standards, best practices, and Quality Management Tool Sets
  • Competencies in the Microsoft 365 Tool Set.
