Job Description

JOB The purpose of this position is to provide desktop support and technical support services working with the Town of Bluffton Police and the Don Ryan Center of Innovation. In addition to installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop and laptop PCs and peripherals such as printers, the employee will provide training which includes setup and assistance with iPads and Phones.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists as an IT team member with Helpdesk requests received via phone, email, and ticketing system. Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and network connectivity issues. Supports end users within Spillman, L3, Lawtrack and other police department software and hardware needs. Provides PC/hardware, software, and mobile device support to the town staff. Escalates issues to higher-level staff as needed. Provides cell phone & iPad training for Town of Bluffton staff. Trains staff on new equipment and software both individually and in groups. Attends Town Council and other meetings as necessary, to provide technical support. Installs and configures application and operating systems software, patches and upgrades. Maintains an inventory of computer equipment and installed software. Removes old equipment and performs data migration to new machines, performs scheduled routine maintenance of computer equipment to ensure optimal performance. Develops and implements new technologies and strategies to simplify job processes and make them more efficient. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires balancing by maintaining body equilibrium; feeling, grasping, repetitive motion, and handling with hands and fingers; hearing and perceiving information at normal spoken word levels; lifting and reaching with arms; mental acuity to make rational decisions; kneeling, walking, and standing for periods of time; speaking and talking by expressing and exchanging ideas; and visual acuity. Duties are performed primarily in an office setting with a considerable amount of field inspections required. Work has no exposure to environmental conditions; though is generally performed in a moderately noisy location (e.g., an office area with multiple personnel, copy machines, telephones and/or computer printers).
