Job Description

Role The Core Support Analyst supports the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of the credit union's core banking system (Symitar Episys), the managed automation services platform, and related applications. This role works closely with business units, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, Project Management, and Process Improvement teams to analyze business needs, support system enhancements, and ensure reliable core system functionality. The Core Support Analyst assists in troubleshooting system issues, coordinating testing and implementation of new functionality, and documenting system processes to support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. This position serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and the Core Support and Development team to help deliver effective technological solutions that support the credit union's strategic objectives and member service. Major Duties and Responsibilities Serves as a primary operational support resource for the core banking system (Symitar Episys), the managed automation services platform, and related ancillary systems to ensure reliable daily system functionality and availability. Monitors core system operations, job scheduling, integrations, and automated processes to ensure successful completion of daily, monthly, and year-end processing activities. Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves system issues and automation failures while coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and third-party providers to minimize downtime and operational disruption. Serves as a liaison between business units and the Core Support and Development team to gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to core system enhancements, integrations, and operational improvements. Assists in translating business needs into functional requirements, conceptual designs, and process documentation to support development efforts and automation initiatives. Participates in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new core functionality, upgrades, patches, and third-party integrations. Coordinates and performs testing of system changes, including user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and validation of new features or enhancements prior to production deployment. Participates in after-hours system maintenance, scheduled processing activities, and system upgrades as required. Supports reporting and data analysis needs related to the core system by assisting with report requests, validating data outputs, and ensuring data integrity across systems. Maintains documentation of system processes, workflows, configurations, and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with internal standards, audit requirements, and regulatory expectations. Collaborates with Information Technology, Business Intelligence, Project Management, Process Improvement teams, and business units to support cross-functional initiatives involving the core system. Maintains knowledge of Symitar functionality, system integrations, and emerging technologies, and recommends improvements to enhance operational efficiency and member service. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or requested
Knowledge and Skills Experience:
Three to five years of similar or related experience in core banking systems support, business systems analysis, information technology, or financial institution operations. Experience working with core banking platforms such as Symitar Episys or similar financial systems preferred. Experience supporting system implementations, testing, troubleshooting, and business process analysis is desirable.
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
A two- or four-year college degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience may be considered. Industry certifications or specialized training related to core banking systems, data analysis, or systems administration are a plus.
Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of collaboration, communication, and problem-solving ability is required. The position requires frequent interaction with internal stakeholders across multiple departments and occasional interaction with vendors or third-party providers. The ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical users, facilitate discussions, and build consensus on solutions is essential.
Other Skills:
Working knowledge of Symitar Episys, automation tools, data processing concepts, and system integrations preferred. Familiarity with reporting tools, databases, or query tools such as SQL is desirable. Ability to analyze business processes, document system workflows, and support system testing activities. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical solutions. Proficiency in standard business software applications such as Microsoft Office products is required. Maintain knowledge with training in BSA Compliance - every staff member is required to uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Identification Program (CIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Anti- Money Laundering (AML) policies and procedures. This includes required BSA reporting. Specific functions such as tellers and front-line staff within Spero Financial will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department and report such activity. In addition to any other assigned training courses, BSA, CIP, OFAC and AML related courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments. Required to maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control requirements. Comply with all Spero policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations.
