This position supports ROW Applications operations by overseeing user access management for critical Right of Way systems, assisting application super users, and supporting Helpdesk activities to ensure consistent, reliable service for end users. This role also contributes to major IT projects involving the implementation and rollout of new systems, requiring close coordination with technical teams, stakeholders, and division leadership. The intern must be comfortable working in a technology‑driven environment, as system support and technology adoption are central to the position. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. The intern will assist with note taking, develop and update PowerPoint presentations, maintain and revise Visio process diagrams, and work with data and tracking tools in Excel to support operational and project‑related needs. Attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through are critical for success in this role. Because this position works closely with division leadership and supports sensitive operational and technology initiatives, a high level of professionalism and discretion is essential. The intern must be able to handle information responsibly and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal stakeholders. Essential Duties:
Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts in accordance with established security protocols, policies, and standard operating procedures for Right of Way (ROW) applications. Maintain clear and accurate documentation of user access changes and approvals. Monitor the ROW Applications Helpdesk inbox, route inquiries to the appropriate ROW Application Super Users, and track requests to ensure timely resolution. Provide first‑level troubleshooting support for application‑related issues and escalate more complex issues to IT or vendor teams as appropriate. File and organize Helpdesk and application‑related emails in accordance with standard operating procedures. Assist users with application‑related questions by maintaining a working knowledge of ROW system workflows and day‑to‑day operational processes. Coordinate with internal IT teams and external vendor partners during weekly operations and status calls, ensuring the appropriate resources and subject matter experts are included. Assist in managing meeting logistics by coordinating schedules, sending meeting invites, and ensuring key stakeholders are available and prepared. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities for new systems and system enhancements by coordinating with vendors, tracking test results, and ensuring required documentation is completed and submitted. Assist in verifying that ROW leadership reviews and approves business requirements and testing outcomes for new systems and enhancements. Take detailed, organized notes during meetings and distribute summaries, action items, and next steps as needed. Create and update PowerPoint presentations for monthly and recurring stakeholder meetings and assist with presenting information during these calls as required. Assist with updating and maintaining training materials, including job aids, reference guides, and training videos. Support continuity of operations by assisting with coverage for critical tasks during unexpected absences. Maintain and update process documentation to support cross‑training, backup coverage, and operational consistency. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
Other Conditions:
Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school. Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Customer service principles and experience providing administrative or application support in a professional or technology‑supported environment. Comfort working with technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications along with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. Exercise professionalism and discretion when working with ROW staff, IT teams, vendors, and division leadership, and will be committed to providing responsive support to agency operations.
