Licensing Requirements:
Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
Experience Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience configuring specialty pharmacy systems for programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with the organization's proprietary system is preferred.
Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Configuration Specialist supports clinical operations and contributes to the department's success through configuration, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of pharmacy systems. This role focuses on building and updating system content, maintaining accuracy of configurations, and supports safe, efficient workflows across specialty pharmacy clinical programs. This individual will ensure that system configurations are consistent, impactful on patient care and operations, and adequately tested prior to deployment. The Pharmacy Configuration Specialist works cross-functionally to implement efficiency improvements while maximizing outcomes and enhancing communication around system functions and configurations. Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services and with guidance from the Pharmacy Systems Coordinator, this individual will execute configuration tasks, test configurations prior to deployment, document configuration updates, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure system configurations align with operational, clinical, and other contractual requirements.

Responsibilities:
System Configuration & Maintenance
  • Configure and maintain pharmacy system content based on defined clinical, operational, and contractual requirements
  • Support configuration of new products, therapies, and programs, including system build, validation, and testing
  • Perform routine and ad‑hoc updates to drug, disease, and program configurations per established standards and as delegated
  • Update system‑generated triggers and workflows under guidance from senior clinical leadership
  • Collaborate with business development to ensure program configurations related to contractual requirements and enhanced service programs operate as intended Content & Documentation Support
  • Assist with maintaining repositories for drug/disease information content, ICD10/disease crosswalks, and clinical questions
  • Help in creating and updating configuration-related documentation and job aids
  • Participate in ongoing reviews of clinical programs to ensure alignment with approved policies and procedures
  • Update provider enrollment forms and pharmacy website upon new medications or formulation/dosing updates identified Testing & Quality Support
  • Collaborate with software development and internal customers to implement and launch new system functions based on clinical and operational requirements
  • Utilize development ticketing/tracking system to document system change/enhancement requests
  • Identify opportunities for increasing user configurability to improve the ease and efficiency of configuration updates in the long-term Characteristics Results oriented Self-directed Sense of urgency Detail oriented; catches errors early Process-focused and methodical Ethical; respects confidentiality
  • Complete system testing for updates, enhancements, and new builds prior to release
  • Identify configuration gaps, inconsistencies, or errors and escalate to the appropriate stakeholders for awareness and timely resolution
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues related to configuration or system behaviors Additional Duties
  • Participate in staff meetings, conference calls, and other meetings as needed
  • Engage as a member of the Clinical Review Committee and leverage system configuration expertise to identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement with cross-functional committee members
