Job Description
Description Summer Information Technology (IT) Internship Job Opportunity! Work begins June through August. Start and end date to coincide with student school schedule if feasible/applicable. Up to 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday. Excellent day shift with City Hall Hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Holidays off. The starting pay is $17.50/hour. Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the IT Services Supervisor and IT Coordinator, provides information technical support and assistance. Examples of Duties Provides phone, email and onsite technical support to end users. Assists with City-wide help desk issues. Provides hardware troubleshooting, support, and maintenance on desktops, laptops, servers, printers, routers, switches, UPS's, multifunction copiers, phone systems, etc. Maintain and monitor printing services on print servers. Including adding, removing printers and troubleshooting print driver issues. Assists with life-cycle changes and updates. Sets up and installs all new hardware and software (MS Office, Workstations, tablets, smartphones, etc.). Manage the new user process, ensuring directory services and email accounts are setup for new users, managing security of the users through the use of security group membership. Perform other duties as assigned.Typical Qualifications Education and Experience:
College or technical student or graduate of Information Technology or a closely related field. Information technology experience desired. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft products, cloud migration and cloud-related services preferred. Or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.Special Requirement:
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license. Supplemental Information Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Office, as well as basic production software and peripherals knowledge desired. Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to troubleshoot networking and workstation problems. Ability to perform peripheral/software upgrades. Ability to independently install, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot complex network hardware, including fiber. Ability to perform entry-level analysis, including the ability to audit, deduce, assess, conclude, and appraise. Required discretion in determining and referencing such to establish criteria to define consequences and develop alternatives. Ability to persuade, convince, influence, train and monitor, in favor of a desired outcome. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to computer rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to exercise judgement, decisiveness, and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental and/or subjective criteria, as opposed to criteria that are clearly measurable or verifiable. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to keep manager informed of any important and significant technological changes and/or issues. Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form including the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language. Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with management team and subordinates. Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations. Ability to use good judgment to effectively solve problems. Ability to be highly motivated and directed. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and carry out office work with minimal supervision.
