MIT Lincoln Laboratory The Strategic and Long-Range Communications Group develops new system concepts and techniques to support the US Government's most critical communications needs. The Group specializes in RF communications in multi-domain applications (ground, sea, air, and space) for global assured connectivity in the presence of adversary interference and interception threats. The Group leverages its expertise in communications system analysis, digital signal processing, RF technology, rapid prototyping, and field experimentation to research, develop, characterize, and demonstrate new capabilities. Position Description The Strategic and Long-Range Communications Group is seeking creative and enthusiastic candidates to develop and analyze communications solutions for US Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3). Typical activities include communication systems research, NC3 system-of-systems analysis, and communication link simulation. Day to day activities include Develop novel ideas for NC3 communications technologies Perform communications system analysis including algorithms, protocols, and approaches focused primarily at physical, link, and network layers Analyze RF communications systems scenarios and identify key trends and opportunities for improvement Perform link budget calculations; identify and account for key environmental characteristics that will drive performance Minimum Qualifications PhD or M.S. degree with 5 plus years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field Demonstrated background in a relevant field and strong interest and motivation to apply their skills to problems in communications Highly effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a team and set priorities Strong problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working with or analyzing the system-of-systems that makes up US NC3 Experience using MATLAB, Python, or similar numerical analysis tool Experience with communication systems, information theory, and/or detection and estimation theoryRecent Graduate Hiring Range:
$145,200-$170,000Experienced Hiring Range:
