Job Description

Role:
Technical Specialist / Data Analyst (ELR Public Health) We are seeking a Data Analyst to support Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR) and NEDSS disease surveillance operations. You will monitor data feeds, troubleshoot HL7 issues, ensure data quality, and support epidemiology teams.
Responsibilities:
Collect, clean, and organize data from multiple sources; perform analysis to identify trends, patterns, and data issues Monitor HL7 ELR message flow, system dashboards, and alerts; ensure continuous data transmission into NEDSS systems Troubleshoot rejected/failed ELR messages, resolve mapping and code issues, and reprocess data to successful delivery Perform data validation and quality checks, identify duplicates/anomalies, and ensure compliance with reporting standards Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to share insights with surveillance and epidemiology teams Coordinate with labs, vendors, and internal IT on HL7 formats, new feed onboarding, SFTP setups, and system changes Support server/service monitoring, basic maintenance, and improvements to monitoring, alerting, and automation
Qualifications:
Bachelor s in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of hands-on data analytics experience Strong skills in SQL and at least one of Python or R Experience with HL7/ELR, public health surveillance, or NEDSS is highly preferred
