Technical Consultant - Power & Energy Houston, TX or Long Beach / Monrovia, CA (Hybrid) Purpose of the Role Worley Consulting is seeking an early-career Engineer / Technical Consultant to contribute to the delivery of power and energy transition projects across North America. This role supports the analysis, modeling, and design of transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure, with a focus on renewable energy integration and grid modernization. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically robust, commercially sound, and client-focused solutions that enable the transition to low-carbon and sustainable energy systems. This position offers exposure to both traditional utility projects and emerging energy technologies, supporting project feasibility, interconnection, and early-stage development. Based at Worley's Houston, Texas, Long Beach or Monrovia California office and follows a 3-day hybrid schedule. Remote work is not available. Key Responsibilities Initiate and support economic analyses for transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure as part of renewable and power project feasibility studies
Perform power system modeling and analysis using industry-standard tools (e.g., PSSE, PSLF, Aspen, PSCAD or equivalent)
Assist in the design and development of substation, transmission, and distribution layouts for large-scale renewable energy projects
Support interconnection studies and grid integration for renewable and conventional power projects
Contribute to the review of 30% design packages to ensure technical completeness and alignment with electrical standards
Analyze power systems for utilities, independent system operators (ISOs), and regional transmission organizations (RTOs)
Prepare technical reports, analyses, and presentations for internal teams, clients, and senior stakeholders
Participate in client meetings and support communication of technical findings to stakeholders and project partners
Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, project management, and construction
Support proposal development, cost estimates, and early-stage project planning initiatives
Contribute to business development through high-quality project delivery and client engagement
Participate in industry forums, conferences, and technical knowledge-sharing as opportunities arise Qualifications / Skill Set Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering (Master's degree and/or MBA considered an asset)
Typically 1+ years of experience in the power, utilities, or energy infrastructure sector
Foundational understanding of power systems, including transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure
Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including solar PV, onshore/offshore wind, battery energy storage, and microgrids
Familiarity with interconnection processes, grid codes, and regulatory requirements
Proficiency with power system modeling tools such as PSSE, PSLF, Aspen, PSCAD, or similar software
Ability to interpret engineering standards, specifications, and technical documentation
Experience supporting engineering analysis, system modeling, or infrastructure design studies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to contribute to practical and innovative engineering solutions
Ability to produce clear, accurate, and client-ready technical reports and presentations
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
Working towards Professional Engineer (PE) is highly recommended.
Understanding of applicable industry standards, regulations, and best practices within the power and utilities sector
Willingness to travel up to 30% to support project execution and client engagement

Salary Range $77,263 -$113,622
