opportunity (Temp to Perm full time) for Workday Business Analyst in Baltimore, MD (HYBRID). The particulars of the position are as follows. NOTE- Client requires LOCAL candidates in
MD/DC/VA.
Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Workday Business Analyst to join Workday Product Management Support (WPMS) team. The candidate will be the primary liaison between financial departments and the technical Workday team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, documenting, and translating business requirements into functional Workday specifications, ensuring the system configurations and processes align with the client's operational, policy, and compliance needs. The candidate will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between an organization's business needs and technological solutions. They will serve as the link between stakeholders, IT teams, and cross-functional groups, ensuring alignment and facilitating the successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Requirements and Process Analysis:
Elicitation:
Conduct interviews, workshops, and documentation reviews to expertly gather, analyze, and document complex business requirements from various stakeholders.
Process Mapping:
Analyze existing business processes and document 'As-Is' and 'To-Be' processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and automation within the Workday environment.
Gap Analysis:
Perform thorough gap analysis between current business requirements and Workday's standard functionality, proposing optimal configuration solutions or identifying necessary custom solutions.
Functional Specification:
Translate approved business requirements into detailed Workday functional specifications for configuration, security, reporting, and integration development.
System Configuration and Support Workday Configuration:
Support Workday Financial modules configuration (business processes, condition and validation rules, data analysis), based on functional specifications.
Testing and Validation:
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), and execute functional testing to ensure that configured solutions meet the documented requirements and are defect-free.
Operations:
Monitor and triage Workday support tickets. Provide issue resolution troubleshooting, and guidance to end users for Tier 2 financial tickets.
Governance and Change Management Change Management:
Act as a change agent, communicating process changes and system updates effectively to end-users and management.
Documentation and Training:
Develop and maintain high-quality documentation, including user manuals and training guides. Familiarity with digital training and content creation tools (i.e. Canva, Articulate 360). Conduct training sessions for end-users and functional owners.
Workday Releases:
Participate in the review and testing of Workday's semi-annual feature releases, identifying impacts and opportunities for the client and coordinating the adoption of new features.
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst specifically working with the Workday ERP platform. Demonstrated expertise in Workday Financials. Experience working in a government, public sector, or large, complex organizational IT environment is highly desirable. Certifications (Preferred) Workday Pro certification in a relevant functional area (e.g., Financials, Financial Reporting). Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent certification.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems and develop practical solutions Proficient in data analysis, modeling, and visualization using tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, and Tableau Familiarity with ticketing and project management tools (i.e. JIRA, SolarWinds) Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to both technical and nontechnical audiences Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Technical Skills (Required) In-depth knowledge of Workday core functionality and the ability to configure core financial modules (i.e. Procurement, Expenses, Grants, Projects, Budgets, Financial Accounting, Supplier Accounts). Strong understanding of data security principles, to include but not limited to business process and domain security policies, role assignments, inherited security, segregation of duties especially as applied to financial transactions as well as PII and confidential information in a government context.
