Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivatedAssociate Telecoms Engineerwho thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based inPittsburgh, PA. Travel Required 25-50% Accountabilities Support Design, configuration, test and commissioning activities for the telecommunication system according to the overall program schedule. Support Identification and analysis of requirements Support Identification and resolution of internal and external interfaces to the Telecommunication System (e.g. Signaling, Rolling Stock, etc.) Support Integration of telecommunications systems with particular attention to Wired and Wireless Networking technologies Participate in products selection Create Bill of Materials and support Purchasing Department to order equipment in particular for the Wired and Wireless telecommunications networks Installation and configuration, installing and configuring network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and radio communications hardware (base stations, antennas, DAS) at designated sites. RF signal optimization, performing site surveys, adjusting antenna alignment and radio signal power levels to achieve desired coverage and quality. Network testing and troubleshooting, conducting network performance tests, identifying, and resolving any connectivity issues or radio signal interference. Protocol configuration, setting up network protocols (IP addressing, routing protocols) and radio protocols (LMR and wideband). Documentation and reporting, creating checklists and reports including system configuration, test results and any identified issues. Required Skills & Experience Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, terminology and trends in communications engineering including the fields of radio frequency allocations, electromagnetic wave propagation, and radio frequency field strength measurements and tolerances. Knowledge of fiber optics, computers, digital communications processors, servers, programming, applications, software, and hardware related to radio communications. Knowledge of Networks design, both wired and wireless Experience with network architecture design Knowledge of network design patterns, constraints and protocols Working knowledge of Switching and Routing protocols Working knowledge of wireless communications Ability to use sophisticated test equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes and a spectrum analyzer.
