Job Summary Build and Support the Infrastructure That Keeps Campus Connected The University of Kentucky is seeking an Engineer Telecom to support the planning, design, and delivery of telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure across campus. This position is part of UK's evolving IT strategy and will report through the Technology Services department in Beyond Blue effective July 1, 2026. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, construction, and IT infrastructure, helping ensure reliable, high-quality connectivity for university operations. You'll contribute to capital projects, collaborate with internal and external partners, and support the systems that keep communication and data flowing across campus. What You'll Do Provide technical expertise for telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber systems and structured cabling for new construction and renovation projects Support design, documentation, and engineering standards , ensuring alignment with university guidelines and best practices Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and vendors to support project delivery and implementation Review plans, participate in site inspections, and verify installations meet technical specifications and standards Assist with project tracking, scheduling, and documentation, helping ensure timelines and deliverables are met Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and support resolution in collaboration with internal teams and external partners Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide project updates, resolve issues, and maintain service quality What You'll Bring Experience in telecommunications, networking, or IT infrastructure , including cabling systems and project support Knowledge of structured cabling, fiber infrastructure, and construction or renovation environments Ability to manage and support multiple projects with strong organizational and time management skills Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, vendors, and non-technical stakeholders Experience with technical documentation, design standards, or project coordination Problem-solving skills and the ability to escalate complex issues appropriately A commitment to quality, reliability, and continuous improvement Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree 2+ years of related experience What's In It for
