Located in the heart of the Bluegrass state, East Kentucky Power Cooperative is a not-for-profit generation and transmission (G&T) electric utility with headquarters in Winchester, KY which is just a short distance from Lexington. Hybrid Remote Schedule This role has the option to be a blend of remote and onsite work if department and business needs allow and with approval from direct supervision. Our hybrid remote work schedule combines three (3) days on premises with up to two (2) days remote. To successfully manage assignments in a safe, regulatory compliant, timely, and cost effective manner. Demonstrates robust technical expertise in work group area and related technical areas. Serves as a technical representative of EKPC in a variety of public and corporate settings. Key Responsibilities Level 1
  • All Specialties Under direct supervision, develops reports and work plans which recommend action considering short and long-range objectives, economic and budget considerations, etc.
Under direct supervision, develops and coordinates individual project work plans and manages through completion taking needed corrective action. Informs supervisor and manager of any major developments or changes in direction of the project. Assists with status report for all work assignments and keeps management informed on progress. Assists with preparation of estimates (cost, work order, schedules). Analyzes data and makes recommendations and/or decisions. Maintains technical records (e.g. drawings, files, databases). Gains awareness of all relevant procedures, specifications, and applicable codes, regulations, compliance rules, and standards (e.g. RUS, etc.). Gains technical expertise and awareness of job related field, and remains current on the industry. Works with other team members and supervisors in carrying out assignments. Under guidance, provides engineering assistance for Member Cooperatives. Assists with the creation of corporate standards and specification related to respective expertise. Develops working knowledge of sound engineering practices and standards. Performs all work in a safe and timely manner. Telecommunications Under direction, develops and evaluates alternatives for proposed projects and system modifications to meet system performance criteria. Under supervision, assists in developing reports and work plans which recommend action considering short and long-range objectives, economic and budget considerations, etc. Uses computer programs/applications to perform studies and analyses and create programs as necessary to accomplish work objectives. Assists in conducting studies using various methods, some of which include path propagations (computer and map), Land Mobile Radio System coverage predictions, propagation delays through the system, and engineering economics. Assists in developing structures and equipment bidding documents for telecommunications facilities. Assists in developing substation telecommunications equipment bidding documents for distribution and transmission substations and MOAB switches. Assists with the DC power distribution design (battery, charger, and breaker panel) for telecommunications facilities, when applicable. Assists with designs and prepares material lists for new telecommunications facilities, facility upgrades, and additions. Assists with site grounding layout and grounding detail. Assists with all relevant RUS procedures, specifications, NEMA, NEC, NESC, ANSI, IEEE, EIA/TIA222, etc., and applicable standards and FCC Rules and Regulations. Assists in preparing monthly and weekly status reports for the section. Performs other duties as assigned. Level 2

Keeps informed of new technologies and regulations which affect EKPC's telecom system. Monitors and inspects contractor work for conformance to construction specifications. Coordinates and reviews the work of engineers, other professionals, or student engineers working on telecommunications projects. Develops cost effective solutions to complex communications problems. Maintains a solid understanding of electronics, telecommunications hardware, and system functionality to assist technicians in solving difficult problems.
