net | 615.656.8151 Job Description Voice Engineer — UCaaS Platform Job Title Voice Engineer Department Engineering Employment Type Full-Time-In Person Position Summary Charger is seeking a skilled and motivated Voice Engineer to lead the development, engineering, and ongoing support of our UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) platform. This role is critical to delivering reliable, high-quality voice and communications services to our clients. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SIP telephony, a strong networking foundation, and hands-on experience with comparable UCaaS platforms. Key Responsibilities Platform Engineering & Development Lead architecture, deployment, and ongoing development of the UCaaS platform Design and implement scalable voice infrastructure aligned with client requirements and growth objectives Develop and maintain system configurations, dial plans, call routing logic, and feature profiles Integrate UCaaS platform with third-party systems including CRMs, contact centers, and Microsoft Teams via Direct Routing SIP & Voice Engineering Configure and troubleshoot SIP trunks, SIP gateways, and interconnects with carrier networks Manage SIP registration, authentication, NAT traversal, and codec negotiation Analyze SIP signaling traces (INVITE, BYE, REGISTER, OPTIONS) to diagnose call quality and connectivity issues Perform
RTP/SRTP
media path analysis, including packetization, jitter, and packet loss diagnostics using tools such as Wireshark and SIP Network & Infrastructure Support Collaborate with network engineers to ensure QoS policies, firewall rules, and routing are properly configured for voice traffic Evaluate and resolve network-layer issues impacting voice quality including latency, jitter, and bandwidth constraints Manage
DNS, SRV
records, and IP address management as it relates to voice platform availability Coordinate with ISPs and SIP carriers for trunk provisioning, failover configuration, and outage resolution Client Support & Service Delivery Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for voice-related incidents and service requests submitted through the helpdesk Onboard new clients to the UCaas platform, including number porting, DID provisioning, and end-user training Document configurations, runbooks, and client-specific voice environments in the ticketing and documentation systems Participate in an on-call rotation for critical voice outages and after-hours escalations Required Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on experience in VoIP/UCaaS engineering or administration Demonstrated expertise with SIP protocol — signaling, call flow analysis, and troubleshooting Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, VLANs, QoS, NAT, and firewall traversal for voice Experience with UCaaS platform or equivalent (NetSapiens, FreeSWITCH, Asterisk, Broadworks, Metaswitch) Proficiency with packet capture and analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, SIP) Familiarity with Linux-based server environments; comfort with CLI administration Ability to read and interpret
SIP/RTP PCAP
