Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 6 years of experience of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar. Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquires, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies). 0 to 1 product development experience or experience with emerging products.Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field. 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above). 3 years of experience managing projects, and working in a large, matrixed organization. Experience in the AI gaming or media space. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across technical teams. About the job At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you make this possible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to gather insights and create industry-leading products. You'll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools. As a UX Researcher on this user-centric team building Generative AI products in the ads, marketing and media space, you will be a core member of a fast moving 0 to 1 product team. You will be responsible for UXR activities like scoping strategic learning programs, helping the team meet milestones by launching to learn, and helping to define and embody the culture of Labs. Labs is a group focused on incubating early-stage efforts in support of Google's mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our team exists to help discover and create new ways to advance our core products through exploration and the application of new technologies. We work to build new solutions that have the potential to transform how users interact with Google. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $159,000-$231,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Partner closely with the Labs Gen Media leads, PM, UX, and Engineering across the product lifecycle. Design, lead and execute research studies, along and in collaboration with other UX researchers. Stay on the vanguard of AI product through daily tool use and experimentation. Consistently cultivate an informed POV on how technical capability will line up with user need. Provide actionable insights that directly influence product strategy.
