Our Media Domain Platforms team builds the platforms, systems, components, and tools that engineering teams across the Services organization depend on every day. We solve real-world, at-scale challenges, supporting diverse, cross-functional web products with heterogeneous tech stacks, while ensuring a consistently high-quality, cohesive user experience. We're looking for a senior web front-end engineer who will be a hands-on contributor and a technical leader in the evolution of our component libraries and design system implementations. You should be comfortable building software for other engineers, partnering closely with design to shape system direction, and driving adoption of best practices across a wide range of engineering teams. An ideal candidate has a passion for platforms, a strong design sensibility, and the technical depth and communication skills to influence how the broader org builds for the web. Description Day-to-day responsibilities include contributing directly to the development and maintenance of shared component libraries and design system implementations used across the Services organization. You will work closely with design partners to anticipate evolving needs and translate design system direction into scalable, well-documented technical solutions. You will play an active role in defining component APIs, establishing front-end best practices, and advocating for design system adoption across a diverse set of engineering teams. Additional responsibilities include providing technical guidance and support to engineering partners, participating in architecture and UX design discussions, and maintaining software quality through code reviews, bug fixes, and security improvements. Preferred Qualifications Experience with a focus on platform, framework, or design system work Demonstrated experience building and maintaining component libraries or design systems at scale Familiarity with additional modern front-end frameworks beyond React Experience with theming systems and design token architectures Proven ability to define and evolve component APIs and contracts with a strong eye toward developer experience and long-term maintainability Track record of driving adoption of shared systems and best practices across diverse engineering teams Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of experience in front-end web engineering Deep expertise in React; proficiency with modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is essential Solid understanding of CSS architecture principles, web security best practices, accessibility standards, and responsive design Experience collaborating directly with design teams, including translating design intent into robust, flexible technical implementations Some experience with shared library development, including versioning and publishing workflows (e.g. NPM, monorepos) Strong communication and technical leadership skills; you should be as comfortable presenting architectural proposals as you are writing code Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $171,600 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
