Job Description
Job Summary Simpli Soda is seeking a Backend Systems Developer to join our in house development team and take ownership of building and maintaining our backend platform using Xano, a low code backend built on PostgreSQL. This role is focused on execution. We have clear plans and architecture direction and need an engineer who can implement, maintain, and evolve a reliable backend system that supports our web application, mobile app, shipping operations, and future product lines. This is a full time long term position, not a contract role. Hybrid role in office 3 days per week mandatory. Compensation and Benefits Annual salary of $60,000-80,000 Health, dental, and vision insurance and benefits eligibility after 90 days Paid time off and holidays Long term growth opportunity within a rapidly scaling company Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain backend systems using Xano and PostgreSQL Develop and maintain REST based APIs for web and mobile applications Design and manage relational database schemas to support customers, orders, products, inventory, and shipping workflows Migrate data from WooCommerce into Xano while maintaining data integrity and history Build and maintain shipping and fulfillment workflows including label generation, tracking updates, and carrier integrations Implement authentication and authorization using third party identity providers and JWT based access control Develop background tasks, automations, and webhook handlers Ensure system reliability through proper error handling, logging, and testing Collaborate closely with front end developers and operations team members to support real business workflows Document backend architecture, APIs, and database structures for long term maintainability Own and improve the backend platform as the business grows and new features are added Required Skills and Qualifications Experience with backend development and relational database design Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and SQL based data modeling Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs Familiarity with authentication systems including JWT and role based access control Experience integrating third party services such as shipping providers or payment systems Comfortable working in a small team environment with direct ownership of systems Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail Ability to write clear documentation and communicate technical decisions Preferred Qualifications Hands on experience with Xano or similar backend platforms Experience migrating data from WooCommerce or other ecommerce systems Experience supporting mobile applications Understanding of shipping, fulfillment, or operational systems Familiarity with version control systems such as GitHub Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments What Success Looks Like Within the first 90 days Core backend systems are stable and running in staging and production Key data from WooCommerce has been successfully migrated Authentication and core APIs are reliable and documented About Simpli Soda Simpli Soda is a rapidly growing beverage and CO2 exchange company based in Wisconsin.
