Back End Software Developer

About the Role We are seeking a skilled Backend Software Developer with strong experience in Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript to join our engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable web applications, APIs, and backend services that power our products. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Ruby on Rails Build and optimize RESTful APIs for internal and external use Work with PostgreSQL to design schemas, write efficient queries, and ensure data integrity Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements using JavaScript Improve application performance, scalability, and reliability Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional experience in backend development Strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails Solid experience with PostgreSQL (database design, indexing, query optimization) Working knowledge of JavaScript and modern frontend integration practices Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) Understanding of MVC architecture and object-oriented programming Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines Experience with background job processing (e.g., Sidekiq) Understanding of security best practices in web development Soft Skills Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Attention to detail and commitment to quality Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Flexible work environment (remote/hybrid options) Opportunities for professional growth and development Collaborative and inclusive team culture #
