Telecom CAD Drafter/Designer Columbia, MO 65201 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: The Telecom CAD Drafter/Designer is responsible for creating high quality technical drawings and schematics for telecommunications infrastructure. This position combines high-level AutoCAD design with periodic field site visits to ensure that "as-built" conditions match the engineering designs. This position is responsible for adhering to company CAD standards and ensuring the timely and high-quality of deliverables that meet client and project requirements. Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models based on design specifications and markups from engineers and architects. Ensure accuracy and adherence to company and client standards, codes, and project requirements. Assist with the setup and maintenance of CAD files, templates, and standards per company procedures. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and designers to ensure delivery is completed on schedule and on budget. Perform redline revisions and document updates as projects progress. Support project documentation, including drawings, schedules, and specifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design data across platforms. Participate in QA/QC to maintain the accuracy and consistency of drawings. Maintain awareness of new CAD technologies and contribute to process improvements. Attend internal and project meetings as needed to ensure coordination and consistency. 5Corporate and Department Planning. Department planning entails establishing specific goals, budgets, staffing plans, and timelines that align with the department's objectives. Support departmental goals through efficient and accurate production of drawings and models. Align individual drafting timelines with corporate project milestones to ensure cohesive delivery of telecom infrastructure. Measures Accuracy of estimated drafting hours vs actual hours billed. Completion of departmental planning tasks within set deadlines. Successful integration of new drafting tools into the team workflow. Business Development - Marketing and Sales. Process of identifying, creating, and expanding opportunities that drive growth. Contributes to proposals, design presentations, and other client-facing materials that support company growth. Identify opportunities for process improvements that can be marketed as a competitive advantage to clients. Measures Timely delivery of conceptual drawings for proposals. Quality of visual aids used in client marketing materials. Feedback from manager on drafting support effectiveness. Project Administration. Coordinate, organize, and support projects to ensure they are complete, on time, within scope, and on budget. Focuses on administrative, documentation, and communication that enable teams to work efficiently and achieve objectives. Ensures projects are completed accurately, on time, within scope, and on budget through organized documentation and coordination. Assist in developing templates, tools, or methods that improve accuracy or reduce production time. Assist in updating standards, workflows, or documentation that improve project delivery . Maintain organized project folders and file naming conventions according to company and client standards. Track drafting progress against project scope and communicate potential "scope creep" to Project Manager. Measures Project delivery within the established scope and budget. Successful implementation of new standards or workflows. Effective coordination results with minimal revisions. Responsiveness to administrative requests and document submittals. Technology. Application of technical knowledge and the use of specialized tools, software, or systems are required to perform job tasks efficiently and meet organizational goals. Apply knowledge of CAD software and tools to produce professional structural site plans. Stay current with evolving CAD software, tools, and drafting techniques. Assist in implementing and maintaining company CAD standards. Measures Successful implementation of advanced CAD features to reduce drafting time. Maintenance of software proficiency through regular updates and training. Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC). The process and inspections used to ensure that all work meets established standards, specifications, and client requirements through the prevention, detection, and correction of errors. Review work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards before. Collaborate with team members to identify and correct drawing discrepancies. Number of revisions required after internal QA/QC review. Compliance with client-specific CAD standards and templates. Human Resources and Office Management. Supports the organization's resources and facilitates smooth administrative operations, enabling efficient operations. 1. Assist in training of junior drafters or interns on company specific CAD standards. 4. Measures Promote teamwork, effective communication, and professionalism within the department. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Continuing Education - Annual training programs that support company objectives and employee growth. Complete annual training programs for AutoCAD updates and new telecom design Stay current on changing municipality requirements for permit drawing submittals. Special Project and Assignments Perform additional assignments as required by management to support business or departmental needs. Education and Experience Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of relevant drafting experience in Telecom or Utility. Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and other relevant design software. Experience in reading and interpreting engineering and architectural drawings. Demonstrated teamwork, time management, and organizational skills. Experienced problem solver, someone who understands and interprets data and troubleshoots when needed. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
