Job Description

Teller, Part Time Northern State Bank Job Title:
Teller Location:
Glidden, WI (may occasionally work shifts at other Northern State Bank branches)

Non-exempt Job Summary:
Accurately handle customers' transactions including withdrawals, deposits, payments, and other transactions. Address customer inquiries and promote bank products and services. Maintain accurate records, balance cash drawers, and ensure a secure and efficient banking environment in adherence with NSB policies and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Accurately balance cash at workstation at start, midday, and at finish of daily work Acknowledge and greet customers upon arrival to lobby, drive up, or teller window Verify all cash and coins that customers bring in by using coin and currency counters. Verify all cash that is given to customers by currency counters. Band currency and roll coin. Sell excess to the vault. Buy bills and coin from the vault when needed Accurately balance vault cash Balance branch cash weekly Receive and disburse Canadian money; accurately figuring out exchange rate (discount) Cash checks for customers and non-customers (on us only with proper ID). Prepare cash order/shipment for office when necessary, keeping cash limits in mind Accept customers' loan payments and payoffs; accurately calculate payoffs as requested Open new accounts including all deposit products (checking, savings, certificates) Open safe deposit boxes and update existing leases Change customer name, account title, co-owners, signers, beneficiaries on accounts Close accounts including all deposit products (checking, savings, certificates) and safe deposit boxes on request. Redeem savings bonds for customers Accept payments for safe deposit boxes & safely allow customers to access their box Sell personal money orders and cashier checks Process Cash Advances as requested by customers Accurately process night drop and mail transactions and mail receipt when needed. Help customers with account reconciliation upon request. Order/reorder customer checks and contact them when they come in. Inspect for accuracy. Complete personal and business deposits Promptly answer telephone and respond to emails in a timely manner Run all necessary tickets, checks, etc. through the proof machine in teller window Follow security protocols and alarm procedures for opening and closing bank Complete file maintenance forms and make changes in the core system as needed Gather new customer information to complete CDD Provide customers with temporary statements and copies of checks Start EFT Error Investigation Report upon notification from customer Place stop payments/holds on accounts and complete appropriate paperwork Provide incoming wire instructions and assist customers with outgoing wire requests. Assist customers in completing Automatic Transfer forms Promptly send copies of forms to the correct departments when needed. Update savings books & balance customers' check books as requested Performs other duties as assigned which may include but are not limited to: o Shredding confidential items o Cleaning tasks (dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, clean windows & surfaces) o Water and maintain plants o Collect garbage and bring out to dumpster o Seasonal decorating o Maintain and clean coin counters, coin roller, currency counter, etc. o Pick up and drop off Mail o Calendar and bulletin board maintenance o Provide occasional backup support when another team member is absent
Performance Expectations:
Maintain an accurate cash drawer with limited variations. Respond to customers' inquiries in a timely and friendly manner. Educate customers on additional products and services Completely follow through on all transactions and activities. Acknowledge and greet customers upon arrival to lobby or teller window. Provide exceptional customer support Accurately conduct customers' transactions. Complete transaction thoroughly including accurate recording of any documentation. Accurately record transactions. File paperwork in appropriate locations in correlation with retention schedule. Complete bank documents accurately for tasks. Follow through on all transactions and communications.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Experience working as a teller, retail sales, or customer service position preferred, but not required.
