Working Title Temporary Full-Time Lecturer (OYA) in HaBS (HealthServices Technology (BAT) & Medical Terminology) 2026-2027 Location Rio Grande Valley, Texas Division/Organization Division of Health Affairs Appointment Period for Non-Tenure Position 1 year Tenure Status Non Tenure Track FTE 1.0 Scope of Job Ability to teach health services and medical terminology coursework in the on-line setting, availability for UTRGV required training for on-line teaching and ability to hold on-line office hours/provide student support is required. UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV's strategic plan, vision, mission, values and core priorities. (utrgv/strategic-plan/). Minimum Qualifications A doctoral or master's degree in a health profession, public health, health science, healthcare informatics or healthcare administration are preferred. A master's degree in another health field/profession appropriate for course subject matter may be considered. Applicants with a master's degree must have, with 3 years' work experience or 1 peer reviewed, scholarly publication in the field. A minimum of one-year online teaching experience. APPQMR Certification. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications N/A Preferred Qualification Excellent written and oral communications skills, technology skills are required. Experience teaching in public health, health science professions/disciplines, healthcare informatics or healthcare administration preferred. Two years' experience in on-line or face-to-face teaching is preferred. Experience with Brightspace or similar LMS. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position beingat least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Please Note Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
