Temporary Staff Accountant

A government organization in Pauma Valley is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant for a temporary assignment. This role will primarily support accounts payable operations while assisting with general accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities during a coverage period. Located in Pauma Valley, CA, Full-time, Monday

• Friday, $38
• 39/hr DOE, 4 month assignment

Key Responsibilities:

• Process full-cycle accounts payable transactions
• Review invoices for accuracy, coding, and proper approvals
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with government accounting standards
• Assist with audit preparation and documentation requests
• Provide general accounting support as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar accounting role
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP) processes
• Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GL, reconciliations, journal entries)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP preferred)
• Experience using accounting systems, preferably Sage Intacct
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Desired Skills:

• Experience with month-end close support
• Familiarity with fund or government accounting practices
