  • Full-time The Terminal Manager will have full responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of Detmar Logistics' Monahans terminal facility, which handles dry bulk materials.
This role oversees all terminal personnel, equipment, rail operations, silo management, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with rail terminal operations, car movers, rotary batch terminals, and the handling of both dry bulk commodities and liquid or chemical products. The primary job functions include, but are not limited to: Terminal Operations Oversee all daily terminal operations including receiving, storage, and outbound shipment of dry bulk materials Manage rail car receiving, positioning, and release using car movers and related rail equipment Manage silo operations including fill levels, material segregation, inventory tracking, and discharge procedures Coordinate staffing and equipment uptime to efficiently load inbound trucks to ensure on-time product movement Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records for all bulk materials on-site Safety and Compliance Enforce and maintain a strong safety culture across all terminal operations and personnel Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations Develop and implement safety procedures, emergency response plans, and hazmat protocols for chemical handling Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations Maintain all required permits, certifications, and regulatory documentation for terminal operations Ensure proper PPE usage and safety compliance by all terminal employees and contractors on-site The ideal candidate will be expected to be a go-getter, self-starter, and will hit the ground running. Equipment and Maintenance Oversee maintenance schedules and upkeep of all terminal equipment including car movers, conveyors, silos, hoppers, and offloading systems Coordinate with maintenance vendors and contractors for major repairs and preventive maintenance programs Track equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime Manage spare parts inventory to support uninterrupted terminal operations Team Leadership Hire, train, schedule, and supervise terminal operators, equipment operators, and support staff Set performance expectations and conduct regular employee evaluations Foster a team-oriented work environment with a focus on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement Serve as the primary point of contact for terminal staff escalations and operational decisions Customer and Vendor Relations Serve as the on-site point of contact for customers, rail carriers, and product suppliers Coordinate with customers to manage delivery schedules, product specifications, and special handling requirements Build and maintain strong working relationships with rail partners and third-party service providers Quickly address and resolve any customer complaints or service disruptions Reporting and Administration Track and report key terminal KPIs including throughput, inventory levels, equipment uptime, and safety metrics Manage terminal operating budget and control costs Maintain accurate records of all rail car movements, shipments, inventory transactions, and compliance documentation Provide regular operational updates and reports to senior leadership
Qualifications and Experience Required:
5+ years of experience in terminal, bulk handling, or industrial facility operations Hands-on experience with rail terminal operations, including car mover operation and rail car management Demonstrated knowledge of RBT transload equipment and silo/bulk storage systems Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, and EPA compliance requirements for terminal operations Proven ability to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
Experience in oilfield services, frac sand, proppant, or energy-related bulk terminal operations Familiarity with dry bulk commodities including sand, proppant, cement, or similar materials Experience managing terminal operations in West Texas or the Permian Basin Proficiency with inventory management systems and operational reporting tools
