Theater Technician Salary Schedule Range:
39a Starting pay rate (based on experience) $28.68 - $31.32 Hours per day: 6 Months per year: 10Purpose of Position:
To perform a variety of technical and support duties related to theater production, stagecraft, scheduling, and civic use by community, commercial, and non-profit groups.Reporting:
Reports to an assigned supervisor.Employment Status:
Part-time or full-time, irregular hours depending on assignment; some weekend hours may be required during productions.Location:
San Marcos High School Essential Functions:
Perform a variety of technical duties for mainstage productions, concerts and school events, including lights, sound, rigging and projection. Coordinate scheduling and theater use in collaboration with school staff and community stakeholders. Train student crews in stage management, basic carpentry, lighting, sound, curtains, and fly systems. Maintain accurate inventory of theatre equipment, props, and related material. Repair, or coordinate repair of equipment; maintain sound, light, and construction tools and equipment. Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.Other Functions:
Perform related duties as assigned.Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Inside work with no exposure to weather conditions. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read a variety of documents, diagrams, labels and other printed material; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate theatre and office equipment; bending or stooping to assist students with learning activities, kneeling, crouching and walking for extended time periods; reaching above the shoulders to retrieve or store materials; lifting up to 25lbs may also be required. Potential hazards include working on or around ladders, rigging, lighting, and in dimly lit or cramped spaces.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of theater operations, theater equipment, set design or construction, programmable lighting units, rigging, sound boards and other equipment. Ability to plan and schedule events. Ability to use computers and mass market software applications like MS Office or Google Suite. Ability to use appropriate English grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or direction. Ability to work effectively with student actors and crew members. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions. Ability to meet schedules and timelines. Ability to work collaboratively with others.Education, Training and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in theater production or performing arts, or management of a public facility.Additional Requirements:
