Job Description

RESIDENTIAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR
The Substance Abuse Counselors role is to provide mental health and substance abuse assessments, develops individualized treatment plans; facilitates individual, group, crisis, and family counseling; provides oversight of the Behavioral Health Technician facilitation life skill classes, assists with identifying, developing and filling gaps of service, and maintains progress notes and case files, and completes discharge summaries. The counselor will assist in motivating and addressing ambivalence with individuals dealing with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Provide clinical oversight of the Behavioral Health Technician. The counselor will report directly to the Clinical Director.to Provide 1:1 counseling related to substance abuse utilizing a trauma informed model of care. Participate in team treatment, team planning and goal setting. May need to cover evening and weekend hours and be "on-call" for shift availability as needed Will maintain a valid Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners License and remain in good standing while employed Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director EDUCATION and
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of age of 21 years-old and a Master's Degree in Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited college or university Minimum of two-years of experience in substance abuse treatment with co-occurring disorders Working knowledge of the DSM-IV, community resources, clinical methods, and procedures and application of the same A license in good standing as a
LASAC, LISAC
(preferred) or LAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LAMFT, or LMFT (with substance abuse experience) in the state of Arizona Knowledge of behavioral management and the health care profession, de-escalation methods, crisis intervention, and diffusing techniques to prevent violent behavior harmful to self or others and the ability to apply these techniques to a client population in various levels of crisis Working knowledge of the 12-Steps and AA Program Working knowledge of the six dimensions of the ASAM Criteria Residential experience, knowledge of psychotropic medication, and illness common to the population Ability to communicate well in writing and verbally Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office If in recovery, must have at least one-year of sobriety Adhere to the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor (NAADAC) Code of Ethics Able to secure and maintain a fingerprint clearance card through the Department of Public Safety Valid CPR and First Aid certification while employed' ' COVID-19 Precaution(s): Temperature screenings Social distancing guidelines in place
