POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tiny Cheers Head Coach position is a part time, seasonal position (January
  • March and September
  • November).
Head Cheer Coaches should display a desire to work with children through positive interaction and role modeling.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Creating and instructing cheers and half-time routines for girls ages Kindergarten-2nd grade. Attending & Supervising all practices on Thursdays from 3:45-5:45pm in the F&RC. Attending & Supervising at weekend games during the season. Attending & Supervising Homecoming Parade. At all practices, games and parades the Head Coach is in charge of supervising all participants, signing children in and out, instructing cheers/routines, communicating with all parents while keeping safety as a number one concern. Supervise and mentor the BHS Volunteer coaches and/or staff assigned to your squad. Oral and Written communication with participant's parents. Check in with office staff with any questions or to receive any pertinent information. Creates supply needs lists and submits them to the Recreation Supervisors every week. Responsible for gathering all supplies and equipment needed for weekly activities and brings them to practice. Maintains and implements safety standards and procedures at all times to ensure a well-rounded program in a safe, positive environment. Will attend all scheduled trainings and meetings as deemed necessary by the Recreation Supervisors. (Failure to attend meetings could result in loss of position.) Will enforce all Youth Cheerleading policies and procedures.
SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan Attend professional educational and safety trainings Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years cheerleading experience at either the high school or collegiate level College Degree preferred Teaching/Coaching Certificate is preferred High School Diploma Required Ability to teach in any given camp situation Must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to talk, hear or read Frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; and over 30 pounds with assistance Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception

Employee should be able to maintain a positive working relationship with other employees Possess the ability to work well with the general public, parents, peers and park district employees Employee must work effectively under deadlines in a variety of environments and elements. Employee must demonstrate leadership qualities to perform required work Employee must be able to function in a sometimes fast and ambiguous environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Employee performs most activities outdoors in the Fall Temperatures and weather conditions can be extreme (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.). Activities do not move inside in inclement weather conditions
COGNITIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to respond to and handle children's behaviors in a positive appropriate manner Employee must have the ability to follow directions Employee must have good verbal and written communications skills Employee must possess time management and organization skills to effectively perform the job Employee must have the ability to make judgments with respect to confidential information and problem solving Employee must use good safety awareness and judgment in all aspects of the position
