EMPLOYMENT TERM
Minimum 210 days annually (paid on a teacher salary schedule) pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by KCSBOE
SALARY:
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Kanawha County Specialist Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level
EVALUATION
Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310 and
KCS G48A.
The Title I Elementary Instructional Coach is a full-time providing instructional support and classroom management support to teachers in assigned schools. The Elementary Teacher Instructional Coach will: Be a team player and work closely within the Title I department and assigned schools. Provide instructional support for reading, math, and classroom management. Serve in a supportive, non-evaluative role to the assigned teachers. Keep abreast of current curriculum and instructional practices, changes in state law, and WVDE and KCS policies. Assist teachers with lesson-planning Partner with the principal to build a culture for coaching. Work with teams of teachers to unpack curricular units. Model effective lessons and instructional strategies, including modeling of co-teaching, in classrooms. Provide feedback and coaching to assigned teachers. Models all aspects of professionalism, including exemplary attendance. Attend all Academic Coach and C&I meetings and trainings. Demonstrate presentation skills for conducting professional learning. Collaborate and communicate with the KCS Content Curriculum Specialists, school principal, and other central office staff. Create and maintain a full-day weekly schedule in assigned schools, posted in a shared Google Excel Sheet Maintain documentation of coaching cycles. Engage in weekly meetings with the principal to discuss the implementation of student-centered coaching. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have five years of recent elementary classroom experience with Accomplished or Distinguished Educator Evaluations. Must be available for some summer planning and training Must have a valid WV teaching certificate in Elementary Education. Must have the ability to build supportive relationships with teachers, principals, and staff. Must have knowledge and understanding of current curriculum, data analysis, adopted materials, classroom management strategies, and effective teaching strategies, including strategies in technology integration. Must be knowledgeable of the cycle of improvement while utilizing it to create and maintain data cycles for each teacher and academic program. Experience in overall school operations (duties, data meetings, collaborative culture, etc) Preferred experience in providing professional development to other teachers. Must have in-depth knowledge and understanding of current learning skills. Must have experience in teacher leadership roles and positions. Must have the ability to demonstrate collaboration, communication, and organizational skills. Must be willing to work as a member of a support team and attend meetings, as scheduled. A Master's Degree in an education-related area is preferred, but not required. Must have a positive attitude and agree to support the mission, goals, and activities of Kanawha County Schools.

Supports Teachers and Principals in the following: Course Content Standards, curriculum, and appropriate instructional strategies Use of adopted programs and materials Organization and documentation Classroom management and room arrangement for optimal instruction and management Scheduling Engagement strategies for optimal student learning Instructional policies and procedures Schoology (as a Learning Management System) Safe Schools Online Attendance at required Teacher Academic Coach trainings Staff development registrations in TNL Assist principals with Title I responsibilities Play key role in data collection and analysis Content-area technology required for classroom use (Cambium, My Math, DIBELS, and SAVVAS Digital Platform) Lesson planning, including data analysis, differentiated instruction, personalized student learning, and interventions Other duties as assigned by the principal or the Title I Director
