Volunteer training sessions occur:
First Tuesday of each month: 6:00•7:30 PM (Zoom) Last Saturday of each month: 9:00 AM•12:30 PM (Onsite) Flexible scheduling is available around these training dates and will be discussed upon hiring. Position Summary The Volunteer and Intern Coordinator manages NAHT's volunteer program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and engagement. This role ensures volunteers are effectively placed in roles that match their skills and interests while fostering clear communication between volunteers and NAHT staff. This position also oversees the Intern Volunteer Program , helping guide interns through meaningful service opportunities that support NAHT's mission while providing mentorship, structure, and accountability throughout their internship experience. In addition, the Volunteer Coordinator oversees the Rescue Closet , maintaining inventory, coordinating donations, and collaborating with the Development team to secure resources. The Volunteer Coordinator will also attend Restore classes as needed to gain a deeper understanding of the Restore Program and serve as a backup facilitator or support for the Restore team when necessary. Key Responsibilities Volunteer Recruitment & Training Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and supervise volunteers. Ensure compliance with background check processes and organizational policies. Lead monthly volunteer training sessions. Co-lead NARCAN training sessions when scheduled. Develop and maintain training materials and onboarding processes for volunteers. Volunteer Matching & Scheduling Match volunteers with roles based on their skills, interests, and availability . Schedule volunteers for key program support tasks including: Member ride assistance (coordinate with Transportation Coordinator) Letters of Hope program (oversee matching and follow-ups) Prayer Ministry (coordinate monthly prayer gatherings) Restore Classes (coordinate with Restore leadership) Intern Volunteer Program Management Oversee the Intern Volunteer Program , including recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and mentorship of interns. Ensure interns are placed in meaningful roles that support NAHT programs while providing valuable ministry and nonprofit experience. Provide guidance, feedback, and accountability for interns throughout their placement. Coordinate internship responsibilities with department leaders when interns are assigned to specific program areas. Volunteer Communication & Engagement Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers. Communicate volunteer opportunities, updates, and organizational needs. Track and report volunteer hours and contributions. Maintain an updated volunteer calendar and engagement opportunities. Foster a welcoming and mission-driven volunteer culture. Administrative & Logistical Support Facilitate donations and coordinate with staff regarding item needs. Welcome guests and maintain a professional, hospitable lobby environment. Provide administrative support for volunteer coordination and organizational needs. Assist with additional operational tasks as assigned. Rescue Closet Management Maintain and track inventory of clothing, hygiene products, and shoes. Coordinate volunteers to assist with organization, sorting, and inventory. Work with the Development team to secure donations and financial support. Distribute surplus items to partner organizations when appropriate. Ensure the Rescue Closet remains organized, accessible, and properly stocked. Restore Program Engagement Attend Restore classes as assigned to build familiarity with programming and member needs. Provide support in the classroom when needed to assist with facilitation or serve as backup. Use insight from Restore engagement to strengthen volunteer program support and survivor wraparound care. Staff Collaboration Participate in weekly staff meetings. Participate in daily devotionals and organizational scripture discussions. Maintain strong collaboration with program and leadership teams. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or relevant experience in business management, human resources, nonprofit administration, or related field . Experience in volunteer recruitment, coordination, and program management . Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with nonprofit databases and recordkeeping systems. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Passion for serving the community and supporting NAHT's Christ-centered mission .
