- Posted on May 19, 2026 Published By Jennifer Andrews A leading manufacturing and engineering firm in Carpentersville, IL, is seeking a skilled Supervisor of Tool & Die Design to lead their design workflow and manage a talented team of designers.
Schedule:
6:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.
Compensation:
$45.00- $52.
Travel:
Occasional travel to customer sites (potentially out-of-state). This is a direct-hire opportunity! Core ResponsibilitiesDesign Leadership:
Lead the development of progressive metal stamping tools, trim dies, fixtures, and gages using 3D and 2D platforms.Project Management:
Produce accurate, high-quality designs under aggressive timelines while simultaneously supporting active tool room projects.Team Supervision:
Provide direct guidance and mentorship to a team of two designers to ensure on-time delivery and technical accuracy.Technical Collaboration:
Partner with customers and internal managers to establish design concepts for progressive dies, compound dies, stage tooling, and jigs.Lifecycle Support:
Prepare strip layouts, plan views, and BOMs; manage ECNs through company business systems; and provide engineering solutions to the Sales team.Shop Integration:
Work directly with the tool room during builds to ensure parts meet exacting customer standards. Benefits & PerksProfit Sharing:

Extensive experience as a Tool Designer specifically within the Tool & Die industry.Technical Proficiency:
Proven experience designing complete tool assemblies using solid modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).Tooling Knowledge:
Strong understanding of progressive metal stamping processes and tooling lifecycle support.Leadership:
A few years of supervisory or management experience is preferred.Soft Skills:
Exceptional time management and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing environment. Preferred Skills- A background as a Toolmaker.
- Experience with LogoPress (SolidWorks add-in) or AutoCAD with Die Maker.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and Syteline ERP software.
