Job Description

Pay Rate:
Mid $18.50 to Max $22.50 Summary Drives Trackmobile, interpreting train orders, train signals, and railroad rules and regulations, while loading raw shelled peanuts, peanut oil, or meal into bulk railcars and then moving those loaded rail cars to the staging area for the railroad to transport our Peanut Products by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform all job duties with health safety and food safety as the number one priority. Operates the Trackmobile safely, effectively, and efficiently in the movement of railcars. The operator will adhere to the Trackmobile Standard Operating Procedures to perform his or her duties. Trackmobile operators will utilize proper braking techniques, coupling, and uncoupling to properly get on and off the tracks and rail switches. Talk with team members by radio, signals, or other means to give and receive rail car operation information. Operate Trackmobile in a safe and efficient manner. Understand train signals, radio communications, and railroad rules. Signal crew members for train movement using hands, flags, lamps, and engine whistles. Read and understand safety instructions, rules, and timetables. Apply and release hand brakes. Couple and uncouple air hose connections between cars. Drive Trackmobile within Premium Peanut rail yard to couple, uncouple, or switch railroad cars. Inspect Trackmobile before and after use to ensure proper operation. Inspect the condition of rail cars. Inspect track for defects such as broken rails and switch malfunctions. Observe fluid and air levels along with monitoring gauges in order to ensure proper operation of equipment. Operate and control Trackmobile to transport and shunt cars at the Premium Peanut site. Operate railcars to transport peanut products. Operate track switches to change the routing of rail cars. Perform routine repair and maintenance duties. Help in aligning drawbars, and using available equipment to lift, pull, or push on the drawbars. Pull knuckles to open them for coupling. Read switching instructions and daily car schedules to determine work to be performed or receive orders from the Production Management Team. Receive, relay, and act upon instructions and inquiries from Production Management Team. Report arrival and departure times, delays, and work order completion. Signal crew members for the movement of the Trackmobile, using lanterns, hand signals, radios, or telephones. Spot cars for loading and unloading at Shelling and Oil plants. Inspects Trackmobile before running to verify specified fuel, sand, water, and other supplies. Moves controls, such as throttle and airbrakes, to drive Trackmobile. Interprets railroad rules and regulations to drive Trackmobile, following safety regulations and time schedule. Prepares reports to explain accidents and delays.
