Tractor Technician

Job Summary Southern Trailer Works is currently seeking to hire a full-time tractor and equipment mechanic. We are a privately and locally owned business in Schriever, LA specializing in farm tractor, equipment trailer, and lawnmower sales and service. This position is primarily a tractor mechanic/technician position. It requires the technician to trouble shoot and repair all size tractors and equipment. In addition to tractor repairs, the technician will assemble implements. Pay is hourly and based on experience.

Purpose:

The main purpose of this position is to perform maintenance and repair on tractors. Must be able to accurately diagnose repairs needed and requires the successful candidate to be very self-motivated.

Position:

This is a hands-on position involving heavy lifting and strong knowledge of mechanical machinery. Experience in diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical diagnostics is required.

• Equipment size will range from 20 hp to 250 hp tractors.
• Repair on tractors range from and not limited to; engine rebuild/repair, electrical repairs, hydraulic repairs, clutch replacement, loader repair, PTO, and transmission repairs.

Roles:

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on tractors, farm machinery, heavy equipment, and industrial machinery using schematics and technical manuals
• Make necessary repairs once approved by service manager.
• Make recommendation of other repairs that may be needed.
• Complete work orders with description of service work completed.
• PDI equipment before sales
• Assemble farm implements.
• Assemble lawnmowers.
• Repairs on lawnmowers as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately diagnosis equipment repairs
• Maintain a clean work space.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Completing all service work independently

Expectations:

• Accountable for all service work completed.
• Learn manufactures diagnostic tools and computers.
• Willing to travel out of town for training.
• Become a team player to assist co-workers.
• Occasionally work on Saturdays.

Skills:

• Strong mechanical understanding and experience on tractors.
• Experience in farm equipment.
• 5 plus years diesel engine or tractor mechanic experience.
• Basic hydraulic system experience.
• Basic 12-volt systems knowledge.
• Basic computer skills

$24.00
