Buford, GA (On-Site | Makita Corporation of America) Makita Corporation of America is currently looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. Job Overview The Import/Export Trade Compliance Specialist will work with the Procurement Engineering and Production Control Sections to ensure accurate and timely information is shared. This information will include trade compliance and changes that occur. The specialist will ensure accurate and timely information is provided to the Freight Forwarders. Responsibilities Develop and write import and export compliance instructions to ensure Makita Corporation of America complies with U.S.A. and other government agencies on import/export requirements. Communicate with Freight Forwarding Agents for Export shipping. Research and understand trade regulations and adapt our processes as necessary. Provide other areas of the organization with updates and training for compliance as necessary. Classification of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS). Audit Customs entries for accurate tariff, country of origin, and any other related trade details associated with compliance and invoices. Perform AD/CVD Antidumping and Countervailing Duty analysis. Manage any request from government agencies related to documentation, audits, etc. Audit invoices from the Brokerage company for accuracy. Maintain current Foreign Trade Zone processes and provide improvements when applicable. Prepare and process Duty Drawback claims. Ensure Makita processes are compliant with CTPAP requirements. Coordinate/Support customer service with Makita sales organizations.Qualifications Required:
Understanding of a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and how to maximize its benefits for a company that sells domestically and internally. Understand the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding system. Working knowledge of Automated Customs Portal (ACE), Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Dedication to compliance with governmental import/export compliance and the importance of this topic for global supply chain operations. Experience with Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) Strong analytical, organizational, written, verbal and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). The ability to clearly communicate, explain and present topics.Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Business, or related field. 2-5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or international logistics. Professional certifications (e.g., CCS, CES, CUSECO, LCB). Experience with duty drawback, AD/CVD, and CTPAT programs.
