Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic construction team as a Traffic Control Flagger, where your role is vital in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow around active construction sites. You will be the frontline in directing vehicle and pedestrian movement, safeguarding workers and the public while maintaining efficient site operations. This position offers an energetic environment where proactive communication and attention to detail are key to success. Your efforts will help create safer work zones and contribute to the timely completion of construction projects. Duties Set up and operate traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely around construction zones Direct traffic flow using hand signals, flags, or stop/slow paddles in accordance with established safety protocols Communicate clearly with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to coordinate safe passage through work areas Monitor the site for potential hazards or unsafe behaviors, reporting issues promptly to supervisors Assist with setting up heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, front loader trucks, dump trucks, graders, and other machinery as needed for site operations Support construction activities such as paving, utility locating, or equipment movement by ensuring safe traffic management during these operations Maintain a clean and organized work zone by regularly checking signage and barriers for proper placement and visibility Qualifications Prior experience in construction site safety or traffic control is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided Ability to clearly communicate instructions using hand signals and verbal commands Basic understanding of heavy equipment operation including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks is a plus Familiarity with construction processes such as paving or utility locating enhances effectiveness on the job Strong attention to safety protocols and detail-oriented mindset Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks in various weather conditions Valid certification as a Traffic Control Flagger (or willingness to obtain one) is highly desirable This role is paid and offers an engaging opportunity to be part of impactful construction projects.
