Trailer Mechanic

Responsibilities:

Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings and races Troubleshoot and repair electrical and lighting systems Repair or replace chassis components such as springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, and sub frames Repair or replace ICC's , mud flap brackets, dolly leg assemblies by means of welding or cutting with oxy-acetylene torch Repair or replace flooring, rub rails, doors, and door trim, repair roofs, panels, nose panels, lower and upper rails Repair and required preventative maintenance of trailers Clean own personal area during and at end of each day

Requirements:

Ability to lift 50-80 lbs; activities include walking, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, kneeling HS diploma or GED required Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; CDL is a plus but not required Must be able to read and follow written procedures, company policies, safety protocols and DOT regulations Ability to work off ground level with proper safety equipment Basic computer skills required Minimum 2+ years' experience as a trailer body mechanic should include previous experience with fabrications, suspensions, air breaks, electrical systems, body repairs and welding Must exemplify the ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions. Must have the ability to work first or second shift, as well as any overtime scheduled, in any weather conditions, including an un-air-conditioned environment Must have strong knowledge regarding the safe handling and operation of trailers, tractors, containers, forklifts, power jacks, lift gates, power tools, and trailer parts Must have own tools •
