If you are looking for a career in patient care, consider applying to our Medical Assistant training program to become a certified clinical medical assistant ( CCMA ) at Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital! A CCMA works alongside providers, mainly in outpatient practices. They perform both administrative and clinical duties, such as welcoming patients, updating medical records, taking medical history, taking vitals, preparing patients for exams, assisting the provider during exams, collecting lab specimens and much more! MAs are essential part of our patient care team, helping patient feel at ease and serving as a link between patients and providers. Our 9-week training program provides hands-on learning opportunities to train you with the required skills to perform as an CCMA . Each week consists of classroom instructor-led education, online assignments, and clinical rotations providing our students with a multi learning approach. Students will sit for their NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant ( CCMA ) exam following the course.Following completion of the training, students will be promoted from the Trainee-Medical Assistant role to a certified MA position at one of the Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital based on department need.
Additional requirements:
+ High school diploma or GED required + Maine resident required + Ability to travel to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital and Northern Light Blue Hill locations while in program. + Internal employees must be in good standing. + CASAS (math and reading) assessment may be required + Post training: Willing to commit to working as a certified MA for 2 years full-time (40 hours per week) at Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital and be placed on the NHA registryMA Trainee Summary :

+ Upon completion of the education program, meet the essential duties and responsibilities for the position sought. + Actively participate in classroom and clinical experiences, adhering to all program requirements in order to successfully complete the program. + Meet all program admission requirements prior to being offered a position. + Meet all programs exit requirements, including requirements for the certified/licensed position sought. + Keep Clinical Instructor informed of the patient's status and changes as well as problems. + Comply with mandated hospital and departmental programs. + Accept responsibility for professional growth and development. + Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital. + Work with the education and leadership team to assure a balance of work and educational responsibilities.Other Information:
+ No previous clinical experience is required for Trainee - Medical Assistant. + Must meet program admission/certification/licensure requirements. + Will obtain active licensure or certification status within 120 days of completion of the program, unless otherwise specified in the agreement letter. + Must be able to read and write with proficiency to accomplish responsibilities. + Must attend all clinical and class educational sessions and complete the educational requirements of the course. + Teamwork, motivation, self-directedness, and commitment to patients are essential skills.
