Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences is an accredited coeducational independent day school for students in grades EC-8. Barnesville's 30-acre campus consists of two school buildings, a full gymnasium, athletic field, and two playgrounds. Immediate Opening:

Transportation Driver & Facilities Support, Part-time .75 FTE, 12 months, Non-Exempt (hourly) We are hiring for two part‐time positions: one morning shift, 6 am to 12 pm and one afternoon shift, 12 pm to 6 pm Pay rate: $20 -$25 per hour (position includes medical and dental benefits)

Summary:

The Transportation Driver & Facilities Support ensures the smooth daily operation of the school by providing safe, reliable transportation services and performing routine maintenance and repair tasks across campus. This role ensures students travel safely, facilities remain functional, and the school environment is clean, safe, and welcoming. A CDL is not required; candidates must hold a valid state driver's license and meet all school transportation safety requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Transportation (Morning and/or Afternoon) Drives children safely to and from regular routes and school sponsored trips Conduct pre‐ and post‐trip inspections and maintain required logs Ensure vehicle is clean, fueled, and in good working condition Follow all Maryland traffic laws and school safety protocols Facilities & Handyman Support Perform general maintenance tasks: minor repairs, painting, patching, basic carpentry, light plumbing, and fixture replacement Support custodial team with setup/breakdown for events, moving furniture, and maintaining common areas Maintain campus grounds through regular mowing, trimming, and light landscaping work Monitor campus for safety hazards and report or resolve issues promptly Assist with deliveries, inventory movement, and equipment assembly Maintain tools, workspaces, and storage areas in an organized manner

Education:

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent

Experience:

5 years of continuous driving experience while holding a valid driver's license; the ability to read, write, and speak English; receive a negative controlled substance test; and possess a satisfactory past driving record and currently have no more than two points. Commitment to

Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to sit; use foot controls to drive; reach with hands and arms; climb, bend, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear; the ability to communicate clearly using a two-way radio or cell phone during emergencies while bus may be in motion; pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds; the ability to use emergency exits at any location on the bus. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision; night/dusk vision, and color and peripheral vision. As part of daily routines mobility around a campus with uneven pavement and managing stairs are required.
