Job Description
The Role:
MetroCOG is seeking a well-qualified, highly-motivated, professional to serve as Transportation Planner. Under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Director or their designee, the Transportation Planner performs professional and technical work involving transportation policy and planning including but not limited to: data collection, analysis and reporting; oversight of transportation studies, programs, and special projects; report writing; grant identification, writing, and administration; project management (including procurement, contract negotiation, implementation, and closeout); participation on technical advisory committees and working groups; government relations; public outreach and education; and other responsibilities pertaining to the transportation planning process.Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
The Transportation Planner position requires a general knowledge of multi-modal transportation planning. Knowledge of federal transportation planning rules/regulations and government operations is preferred. Candidates should possess strong oral & written communication and interpersonal skills; have the ability to interpret laws and regulations, be proficient with computer software; build and maintain working relationships with agency staff, board members, municipal partners, consultants, appointed and elected officials and members of the public.Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Regional/City/Urban Planning, Transportation/Civil Engineering, Public Administration or a closely related field. Master's Degree preferred OR an appropriate combination of education and experience.Compensation:
This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
