About Us Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is an award-winning, medium-hub commercial service airport that served more than a record-breaking 11.1 million passengers in 2025 and is one of the top 50 airports in the United States for passenger traffic. Sixteen airlines serve RSW with nonstop service to more than 70 markets, including Canada and Germany. The economic impact of the airport is $8.3 billion annually to the Southwest Florida region and more than 60,000 jobs. Page Field (FMY), an FAA-designated reliever airport, provides services to general and business aviation and accommodated more than 160,000 aircraft operations in 2025. Base Operations at Page Field is an award-winning, fixed-based operator and has been recognized for its customer service and facilities. Terminal Expansion projects are currently underway at RSW to improve the airport travel experience by consolidating the security checkpoints, adding concession space and providing passengers more amenities and options. In addition, a new Concourse E is being constructed with 14 gates, as well as other terminal, landside and airside improvements. The Position The anticipated starting hourly rate for the ideal candidate is $26.97 The Lee County Port Authority is seeking a detail-oriented, high-energy Operations Duty Agent to join our Airport Operations team. As an Operations Duty Agent, you are the eyes and ears of the airport. Under the guidance of the Airside Operations Manager, you will exercise significant independence to monitor terminal, landside, and airside activities. From emergency response to regulatory enforcement, your work directly impacts every flight and passenger. Minimum Qualifications A valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business administration, or an equivalent level of aviation experience may be considered Must successfully complete a background investigation, drug screening, Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), and TSA Security Threat Assessment prior to employment Must obtain and maintain an FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance within three (3) months of hire Availability to work an 84-hour bi-weekly work schedule and must be able to work various and rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays, and relief shifts) 24/7 Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough checks of runways, taxiways, fencing, fueling facilities, and terminal areas to ensure 100% compliance with safety standards Assist in establishing On-scene Command Posts and responding to incidents across all terrains Uphold FAA regulations and the Airport Certification Manual. You have the authority to suspend operations or restrict flights when necessary to maintain safety Handle animal and bird control using pyrotechnics and specialized equipment to keep the airfield clear Manage gate control programs and provide critical weather updates to airport tenants Empowered to suspend the rules and regulations (Lee County Ordinance 94-09, as amended) and issue such orders, rules and regulations as may be necessary. This may include closing the airport in its entirety or any portion; delaying or restricting any flight; refusing takeoff permission to aircraft; denying the use of the airports to any specified class of aircraft, or to any individual or group Provide aircraft escort in the movement areas of the Air Operations Area (AOA) Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, reaching and frequent walking are required to perform this position
Emergency Response/Recovery Activities:
Lee County Port Authority personnel are designated by tier levels and may be called upon to assist with an emergency or unforeseen event at any time.
