Job Description
Job Overview Hampton Security Group is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, employees, and visitors. This role requires a proactive approach to security, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed while providing excellent customer service. A Flex Officer is an officer assigned on an as-needed basis to support operational staffing requirements. Flex Officers are utilized to cover call-outs, shortages, special assignments, high-traffic periods, emergency staffing needs, and temporary post coverage.
Flex Officers must be prepared to work various posts, and duties based on operational demand. Assignment as a Flex Officer does not guarantee a permanent post until the evaluation period is successfully completed and staffing needs allow for placement.
During the evaluation period of 45 days, the Flex Officer will be assessed on: Reliability and attendance Ability to follow post orders Professional appearance and conduct Adaptability to multiple posts and assignments Communication and performance under supervision Overall work ethic and operational readiness Responsibilities Monitor designated areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion or suspicious activity. Enforce rules and regulations to maintain order and protect property. Prepare detailed reports on incidents, observations, and activities during shifts. Collaborate with law enforcement when necessary and provide assistance during investigations. Engage in conflict management to de-escalate potentially volatile situations effectively. Conduct physical and electronic screening of passengers. Identify prohibited or suspicious items and take appropriate action. Verify credentials and identification for employees, vendors, and authorized personnel. Prevent unauthorized access to sterile and secured areas. Monitor passenger behavior for suspicious or unusual activity. Report concerns immediately to supervisors or law enforcement. Properly operate and monitor screening equipment (X-ray, ETD, body scanners). Follow all standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements. Complete required logs, reports, and incident documentation accurately. Maintain a calm, respectful, and customer-service-focused approach. Respond to security incidents, alarms, or emergencies as trained. Coordinate with supervisors, airport operations, and law enforcement when necessary. Skills Strong knowledge of security protocols and procedures. Able to work in inclimate weather. Experience in law enforcement or military service is highly desirable. Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Strong observational skills with attention to detail, ensuring no potential threats are overlooked. Ability to stand and remain alert for extended periods of time Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind) Ability to work in high-activity, high-traffic, and fast-paced environments Strong situational awareness in areas with heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic Ability to follow safety procedures while managing busy operational areas Effective communication skills for interacting with diverse groups of people.
