Shift work and emergency overtime may be required and work requires incumbent to go outside in all types of weher conditions to inspect the airfield. Major study
  • accounting, business administrion, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, stistics, traffic management, transportion, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportion, or other fields reled to the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Applicants must have least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. Creditable general experience is described as: serving as an Airfield Management Shift Lead th evalues the day-to-day airfield management operions and maintains situional awareness of airfield activities and keeps the Airfield Manager informed of any conditions th may affect the safety of the airfield while providing flight services to the aircrews as requested and provide pilots with a variety of critical informion for planning and conducting safe flight as requested.
  • Reviews and issues Notices to Airman Bird Wch condition, airfield construction, Navigional Aids stus, Aircraft rescue and firefighting capability.
  • Conducts ongoing airfield inspections/checks including FOD Inspections, re-opening runway after in-flight emergencies and performing BASH responses.
  • Conducts airfield check prior to the start of flight operions with focus on condition of runways, taxiways, aprons, airfield lighting, navigional aids and weher equipment.
  • Issues NOTAMs pertaining to airfield hazards, Advises pilots, air traffic control facilities and other on/off base agencies.
  • Reviews and processes requests for Prior Permission Required, ensures all are for Official Business Only (OBO) and determines if request granted and processed.
  • Provides pilots with detailed informion critical to flight safety. Reviews flight plans with pilot for accuracy, completeness and for compliance with Air Force rules and directives.
  • Responds to aircraft emergencies, accidents, and incidents on the airfield. Determines are needed and they have the authority to close runways and taxiways.
  • Communices with aircrew verbally and in writing, as needed to coordine flight schedules and keep coworkers and customers informed of changes in stus.
NOTE:
Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing de of this announcement. Evalues airfield operions to ensure safe, efficient, and effective airfield operions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
(KSAs): Your qualificions evalued on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Practical knowledge of Industry and AF airfield management operions practices, procedures and the established regulions, requirements and techniques reled to the airfield management program. 2. Practical knowledge of airfields such as condition of runways, taxiways, aprons, operional stus of airfield support facilities (airfield lighting, barriers, navigional aids, etc.) and obstacles th are violions to airfield standards and safety issues th may restrict aircraft operions and issuance of NOTAMs. 3. Practical knowledge and understanding of airfield manuals, instructions and procedures to conduct airfield inspections. 4. Practical knowledge of aerial navigion and aviion techniques, flight operions, flight planning rules, practices and procedures to develop/change flight plans worldwide. Practical knowledge of flight operions, visual and instrument flight rules, FAA regulions, the internional airway routes and structure, oceanic routes, controlled and special use airspace, flight characteristics and systems of several types of aircraft (aircraft altitude/airspeed capabilities, aircraft systems malfunctions) knowledge of flight safety, knowledge of exercise and contingency operions. 5. Ability to act decisively in emergency situions. Ability to communice effectively and tactfully with military and civilians of all ranks. 6. Ability to opere various communicions devices such as radio, desktop computer, intercoms, etc., and knowledge of procedures for message and report preparion and notificion procedures.
