Clarificion from the agency Current FAA AVS permanent employees & AMA-200 permanent employees Duties Help The Assistant Principal Inspector (GA - Operions) serves as a full assistant to a Principal Inspector (Operions) GAO, performing the full range of certificion, surveillance and inspection duties for assigned air carriers, air operors, air agencies, airmen, and designees. The Assistant Principle Inspector has program responsibility to assure th assigned organizions meet Federal Aviion Regulions with respect to operions programs. Assists in the establishment of work programs for inspection and surveillance. Under the general direction of the Principal Inspector (Operions) accomplishes the following duties. Technical Administrion Assures on a continuing basis th assigned organizions are properly and adequely organized, staffed, equipped and have an adeque training program, including an acceptable record keeping system; and have facilities and procedures th meet all regulory requirements. Chairs joint FAA-industry meetings; maintains regular contact with organizions assigned; and coordines with top management officials. Requires or directs correction of any deficiencies/discrepancies and refuses or withdraws approval if they cannot be resolved. The Inspector is responsible for the conduct of enforcement investigions and preparion of final reports and recommendions on disposition. Performs or supervises the emergency suspension of certifices or cancellions of operions specificions. Conducts or directs the reexaminion of certificed airmen or recertificion of an operor or agency. Conducts investigions of public complaints, congressional inquiries, and aircraft incidents and accidents. Provides verbal and/or written technical assistance to legal counsel, testifies court trials and formal hearings, and gives depositions. Coordines Minimum Equipment List (MEL) approvals with the principal airworthiness inspectors. Takes enforcement action in instances of noncompliance with the MEL. Coordines with geographic inspectors for the accomplishment of nonroutine air carrier surveillance. Certificion Approves/accepts or disapproves/rejects manuals, school curriculum, and revisions to such. May require amendments to previously approved documents to accomplish the following: correct any conflict with regulory requirements; elimine unsafe practices; and/or improve the specificity of instruction. Evalues training programs to ensure th they meet the requirements of the Federal Aviion Regulions. Approves or disapproves these training programs including flight simulors, training devices, or other such equipment used in these programs. Medical Requirements:
Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviion Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner, with or without a reasonable accommodion. The minimum medical requirements include the following requirements: Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed merials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted); Have the ability to hear the conversional voice (hearing aid permitted); and Not have any physical condition th would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others th would interfere with their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft. In addition, when the predominant work involves General Aviion Operions, applicants for Aviion Safety Inspector (Operions) positions must meet all of the following requirements: Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certifice with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane rings. Must have given a minimum of 200 hours of flight instruction in an aircraft. Professional flying skill as demonstred in a flight check to Commercial Pilot Certifice with an instrument ring; Possession of Airline Transport Pilot Certifice or Commercial Pilot Certifice with instrument airplane ring. Minimum of 100 flight hours within the last 3 years. Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours. Possession of single and multi-engine land airplane rings. Not more than 2 flying accidents in the last 5 years in which the applicant's pilot error was involved. Possession of a valid second-class FAA medical certifice. The recency of specialized experience is waived for current FAA employees in the 1825 series. A valid second-class medical certifice is waived for current FAA employees in the 1825 series.
