Overview Join our dynamic team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for transporting children to and from school, maintaining a positive and secure environment on the bus, and fostering trust with students, parents, and school staff. Your dedication will help create a safe journey that sets the tone for a successful school day. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and commercial vehicles, including paratransit and child transportation vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical functionality, and cleanliness before each route Communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and dispatchers using clear English or bilingual communication skills Manage student behavior on the bus through positive behavior management techniques and enforce safety rules consistently Assist students with special needs or childcare requirements, providing compassionate support as needed Maintain accurate logs of routes, incidents, and vehicle maintenance reports Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents on the road by coordinating with emergency responders and following established protocols Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on jurisdiction Experience in bus driving or commercial driving environments; familiarity with school bus driving is highly desirable Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues Experience working with children or in childcare settings; patience and excellent behavior management skills are essential Knowledge of safety procedures related to school transportation and child protection policies Ability to handle stressful situations calmly while maintaining professionalism and focus Join us in delivering more than just transportation — help shape safe, positive experiences for students every day!
