PROMOTIONAL
recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. There are currently multiple positions open in our Transportation Department. These are 7 hour/day, 11 month position. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, operate a school bus over designated routes to transport students safely and efficiently to and from assigned locations; transport school groups on special trips which may be out of town; and assure vehicle safely by performing daily safety inspections and cleaning duties. View Job Description Requirements / Qualifications Training and Experience Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and relevant experience and training in traffic and transportation work, including the driving of a school bus. Licenses and Certificates Valid California Driver's License Class A or B with a passenger and air brake endorsement. Valid California School Bus Drivers Certificate. US Department of Transportation Medical Examination Certificate. School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate (Unrestricted). Valid CPR and First Aid certifications. Knowledge of Proper operations and mechanical characteristics of school buses. All applicable provisions of the California Vehicle Code, Code of Regulations, Title V and XIII, Education Code, and other regulations related to the operation of vehicles and pupil transportation. Safe and defensive driving methods, practices, and techniques. Methods and procedures used in the training and instruction of drivers. Principles of training and providing feedback. School district geographical area. Applicable District and site policies, procedures, and objectives of assigned program and activities. Operation of two-way radios. Appropriate health and safety regulations, safety precautions, and procedures. Standard First Aid procedures. Oral and written communication skills. Proper lifting techniques. Basic record-keeping and report preparation techniques. Basic computer skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability to Drive a school bus safely and efficiently. Learn and observe legal and defensive driving practices. Learn and apply principles of training and instruction. Assist in loading and unloading students. Train drivers to operate a school bus and vehicles safely and efficiently. Operate a two-way radio. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Read, interpret, and follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports. Understand, follow, and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with others. Meet schedules and timelines. Participate in various job-related activities, professional growth training, and workshops.
