This route begins in Santa Rosa and travels south to Martinez to meet the train. From there, the route continues north to Arcata, where an overnight stay is provided in a company-paid hotel. The following day, the route runs southbound back to Martinez, again waiting for the train, and finishes northbound in Santa Rosa. This position follows a 6-days-on, 3-days-off continious rotating schedule. Key Responsibilities Driving & Safety Operate buses along the Amtrak Thruway Route 7 in compliance with federal, state, and local traffic laws. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure buses are in safe operating condition. Follow all safety protocols to protect passengers, pedestrians, and other drivers on the road. Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including mechanical issues, accidents, or medical events. Customer Service Provide excellent customer service, ensuring passengers feel welcomed and informed. Assist passengers with boarding, luggage handling, and seating arrangements as needed. Clearly announce route information, stops, and connection details. Address passenger inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner. Schedule Adherence Maintain punctuality to ensure alignment with Amtrak train schedules. Communicate delays or issues to dispatch and passengers as necessary. Adapt to schedule changes or detours while minimizing disruption to service. Vehicle Maintenance & Reporting Report mechanical issues, damages, or safety concerns to the maintenance team promptly. Maintain a clean and organized bus interior for passenger comfort. Complete required logs, paperwork, and incident reports accurately.

Qualifications Required:

Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A or B with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement. Clean driving record with no major violations. Minimum of 3 years of experience driving passenger buses or similar vehicles. Strong knowledge of California roadways, traffic laws, and safety regulations.

Preferred:

Experience in intercity or charter bus driving. Familiarity with Amtrak services and schedules. Skills and Competencies Excellent driving skills and situational awareness. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage unexpected situations. Dependability and punctuality.
