School Bus Driver

The Ahfachkee School is part of the Seminole Tribe of Florida has about 200 students between all the K-12 grade levels so we offer small class sizes, traditional culture preservation, and plenty of resources! We follow Florida standards for the curriculum however we fall under the Bureau of Indian Education so we're not part of the county. The staff schedule is full-time Monday through Friday 6:30am to 3:30pm.

This is not in the main city of Clewiston, rather 45 minute drive south. It is about a 45 minute drive east of Immokalee. Coming from Weston it would be about a 55 minute drive to the west on I-75. We do provide a fuel stipend if you live more than 40 miles away. Position Summary The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing bus transportation services for the students and employees within the Ahfachkee School. The incumbent ensures the safe operation of the vehicle as well as the safe transportation of students to and from school and designated locations. The incumbent may be assigned to provide transportation to and from special events. The individual may perform as a backup for other non-exempt support positions within the Ahfachkee School, e.g., clerical, custodial, kitchen, etc. This position is classified as a Supp-42; which requires a 42 week work period (approximately 10 months), paid across a 42 week (10 month) pay cycle.

Qualifications / Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent GED is required. Knowledge of custodial/ janitorial service practices and equipment is required. A minimum of six (6) months of experience working as a Bus Driver is preferred. The incumbent must possess a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL); class B with a Passenger Endorsement. School Bus Driver Training Certification is required. Demonstrate physical strength and agility sufficient to perform assigned duties. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Annual physical examination is required. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
