Location Various Full/Part Time Full-Time Exempt from Classified Service No Minimum Rate 40609.86 Min Pay Frequency Yearly Maximum Rate 58740.11 Max Pay Frequency Yearly Regular/Temporary Regular Minimum Qualifications High School Degree or GED and at least three months of experience in semi skilled physical labor, manual work, or any field that demonstrates the candidate performed physical labor or manual work; OR current employment in the County service as a Bus General Helper with at least three months of experience performing physical tasks; OR current employment as a Miami Dade Transit Bus Operator who has experience with physical labor or manual labor work. As a condition of continued employment, Bus Hostler trainee must meet the following requirements during the training period: • Within two weeks of employment, they must pass the written general knowledge test, along with the written Passenger Endorsement and Air Brake endorsement tests for the state of Florida's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B. • Within four weeks of employment, they must obtain the CDL Class B with CDL with Passenger (P) Endorsement and Air Brake endorsement. All training for the CDL and practical skill testing be provide by the department. The DTPW classification of Bus Hostler performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to the provisions of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Regulations. Proof of education and work experience to meet minimum qualifications must be presented and will be verified. Recruitment Notes Employees in this position perform daily fueling, washing and servicing of vehicles and various bus types. The specific tasks include but are not limited to adding fuel, checking all fluid levels and cleaning buses. Responsibilities include daily Inspection of buses being serviced for accident damage, broken glass, burned out lights, mirrors, windshield wipers, fire extinguishers, reflective triangle kits and other safety related Items and any mechanical defects. Drives buses safely through the automated bus wash system and/or cleans interior/washes exterior of bus by hand, when necessary, parks buses In designated area as per the approved parking lot layout. Uses pressure cleaner, parts washer and other cleaning equipment to clean bus parts and engine compartments. Cleans interior and the surrounding exterior area of fueling station, steam clean bay, bus wash bays, garage, parking area, and perform other related cleaning tasks such as: sweeping, moping, and dusting. Transport buses and other transit vehicles and equipment such as forklifts, yard sweeper truck, floor scrubber and yard mule as required.
